First home-cooked meal

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

We drove across the winding mountain road from Eygalières to Maussane. On the way we stopped for some photo ops. The weather was just about picture-perfect and so was the temperature. We continued through the old Roman pass from Les-Baux-de-Provence into Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to stop for lunch. We strolled through St. Rémy window shopping and stopped at Bistrot Decouverte, www.bistrotdecouverte.com, for a bite to eat and enjoyed  a wonderful bottle of wine, Chateau des Tours. We bought four bottles of it from their cellar for Wednesday’s dinner.

As the afternoon was waning away, we stopped at the InterMarche, one of France’s supermarket chains to pick up some things for dinner this night and Wednesday’s dinner as well. On our way home, we stopped at the vineyard Domaine de la Vallongue to pick up red wine for tomorrow’s dinner. Philippe suggested we purchase the 2000 Murielle, which we did.

For dinner tonight, we all pitched in and prepared: salad, roasted chicken, grilled asparagus and roasted rosemary potatoes.
