We awoke to another overcast and rain-threatening day. The limo driver told us the night before that it had rained frequently in the past 21 days. Today was no exception, typical autumn weather – cool and overcast.
We planned on having lunch at Aureole, a Charlie Palmer restaurant, prior to David’s Hall of Fame meeting. Palmer has a stable of restaurants, known for his signature “Progressive American” cuisine. Check him out at www.charliepalmer.com
We strolled the four short blocks to the restaurant. It is across the street from Bryant Park. Once seated, we happily discovered the menu had changed since the last time we dined there. We both had fantastic meals, a lobster roll for me and tuna nicoise for David. I had Sancerre with my meal and David a Pomerol. The service staff was delightful.
Once finished, we walked back to the hotel, repacked for checkout, and David left for his meeting. As we had an 11:20 pm Air France departure, we caught a light dinner at Sofitel’s restaurant, Gaby, checked out and grabbed our ride to JFK. We made record time to JFK and, after check-in and security, had a three-hour wait before boarding. We headed for the lounge to wait out the time. Boarding time arrived and we embarked, then it was lights out for both of us as we were amply stuffed from the two meals we had prior.
